Summary
Moonlock stores the messages you seal, encrypted, and deletes them after 90 days. Your approximate location is used only to check that the moon is above your horizon and is never stored. There is no account, no ads and no analytics, and we never sell or share your data.
Moonlock lets you seal a message that the receiver can only open by pointing their phone at the moon. This policy explains what information the app uses and what happens to it.
Information we store
Your message. When you seal a message, its text is sent to our server over an encrypted connection and stored encrypted. Anyone with the message link can open it once they find the moon, so only send the link to people you want to read it.
Your name. The name you type when sealing a message is optional. It is stored with the message and shown to the receiver.
Opened time. We record when a message is first opened, so the sender can see that it was read.
Information we use but do not store
Approximate location. When you open a message, your phone sends its approximate location so our server can check the moon is above your horizon. It is used only for that check and is not saved.
Compass and motion sensors. These are used on your phone to tell where it is pointing. Their readings never leave your device.
Server logs. Like any website, our server briefly records IP addresses and requested pages to keep the service secure and working.
Permissions
- Approximate location: to work out where the moon is in your sky when you open a message.
- Internet: to seal and open messages.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone. A message is only shown to people who have its link and find the moon. Moonlock has no ads, no analytics and no third-party trackers.
Retention and deletion
Every message, with its name and opened time, is deleted automatically 90 days after it was sealed. To delete a message sooner, or to report one, email to@hanshivnatech.in with its link. You can also report a message from the app or web page after opening it.
Children
Moonlock is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
